Artist’s Statement - Dgoody (Dustin Goodrich)

My work is a visual excavation of the human psyche—layered, raw, and unapologetically abstract. Through Dgoody Art Designs, I channel the chaos and clarity of lived experience into vibrant compositions that speak to the emotional undercurrents we often suppress. Each piece is a dialogue between internal tension and external expression, a moment captured in pigment where thought and feeling collide.

I gravitate toward abstract expressionism because it allows me to explore the intangible: mental claustrophobia, emotional polaroids, philosophical fortune, and the perversion of symmetry. These aren’t just titles—they’re emotional states, cognitive landscapes, and cultural commentaries. My series, such as Highway of Intrusive Thoughts, reflects a commitment to confronting discomfort and transforming it into something beautiful, provocative, and deeply personal.

Color is my language. Texture is my punctuation. I use both to navigate themes of identity, anxiety, resilience, and absurdity. Whether it’s the frenetic energy of Mental Mad Lib or the quiet defiance of Voluntary Solitude, my work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and perhaps recognize a part of themselves in the abstraction.

As an artist, I am also a storyteller. My canvases are chapters in an ongoing narrative—one that embraces contradiction, celebrates imperfection, and resists easy interpretation. I believe art should challenge as much as it comforts, and I strive to create pieces that linger in the mind long after they’ve left the eye.

Dgoody Art Designs is more than a portfolio—it’s a living archive of emotional truth. It’s where I reconcile the analytical with the intuitive, the structured with the spontaneous. It’s where I make sense of the world by embracing its senselessness.
